Have you ever wished to fast forward life, to skip a part of it, or to pause in the moment?
When facing a sad, stressful or unpleasant situation, indeed, people wish they could magically skip it and go straight to the easy and good part. Yet, when people are feeling happy and thankful they wish they could pause life in that exact moment and let that feeling constantly surround them.
Have you ever, however, though that without the bad, low and sad moments we would not be able to appreciate the good and happy ones? Likewise, without those happy and carefree moments we would not be able to realise that another moment is bad and unfortunate. It is, indeed, those moments that you wanted to skip that allow you to realise what happiness really is for you and what differs between your happy and sad self. It is those amazing moments, in which you would wish to live forever, that allow you to recognise an unpleasant and sad situation.
The fact that today you feel happy is relative to how you feel when you are sad. And the fact that sometimes you feel sad is relative to how you feel when you are happy. If you constantly felt happy you would not be able to recognise it because you would never have felt how it is not to be so.
Your happy state may be completely different from mine and my happy state may be completely different from yours. This is because our point of comparison is different. We have not lived the same life, we do not have the same experiences and therefore we do not appreciate situations in the same way.
So next time you feel like wishing to fast forward or skip a part of your life, remember that everything is in the plan and that both the good and the bad parts are necessary. Without the good you would not know when it gets bad, and without the bad you would not know when it gets good.
Next time you have a great day, rather than wasting time wishing to be like that everyday and feeling sad about the fact that you cannot do so, choose to live that moment to the fullest and make the best memories out of it.
Life is not a music playlist and it is not meant to be managed as if it was. So, leave the skip and pause buttons aside and live life as it deserves to be lived.
Until next time
Keep pondering
xoxo
